Welcome to our fundraising page.
On Tuesday 20th December, children in Junior Infants to 2nd Class will complete their run around the big yard.
Children in 3rd to 6th class will walk/run from our school to the train station and back (weather permitting).
5th and 6th Class pupils will be finishing the final mile of an 8 week marathon they have been running in school and will receive their medals on the day. Children in Junior Infants- 2nd class will run in groups around the big yard.
This event is promoting the message that children require 60 minutes physical activity daily.
It is also a way to fundraise for a brilliant cause. The Heart Centre in Crumlin Children's Hospital look after the most precious group in society- our children. We have heard in our school of the brilliant work they do and want to help them in any way we can.
All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.
Here is a message from one of our teachers Martha, who has experienced first hand the great work this hospital does:
''Hi, my name is Martha Kenny; I am a teacher in Adamstown Castle Educate Together National School and mother to our little boy Oliver. Oliver was born with a heart condition known as TGA - Transposition of the Great Arteries. He was transferred to Crumlin Hospital soon after birth, where he required major open heart surgery at just seven days old to perform an arterial switch of his pulmonary artery and aorta.
This was a long and challenging surgery, it was 9 hours before we saw him again in the ICU. He was barely recognizable when we saw him again, just days before we could hold him in our arms and now he was hooked up to so many tubes and drains, unable to breathe independently, he needed constant monitoring and support. Oliver was almost 4 weeks old when we brought him home. He received the best treatment during his time in Crumlin Hospital from his fantastic cardiologist Dr. Orla Franklin, his incredible surgeon Mr. Lars Nolke and all the amazing nurses and care assistants in CHC and PICU. Oliver is 8 months old now and doing amazing, we are so grateful for the treatment he received. Please donate to the Heart Centre in Crumlin Hospital.''
