Dan & Laura's story

In July 2019 we discovered during our 12 week ultra sound scan that our second son had a cleft lip. At the time we had no idea what had caused the cleft, we were Confused and scared but thanks to the support we received from the amazing Cleft team at Manchester Royal infirmary and Tameside Hospital we were introduced to an amazing community of families like our own.

On the 18 December 2019 our beautiful son George was born at Tameside hospital, Ashton-U-Lyne with a bilateral cleft lip and palate.

the first 6months were tricky to say the least with Covid 19, however George has currently undergone 2 surgeries and will require a 3rd when he's 8.

George is now 1 year old, and what a year it has been, George makes us smile everyday and couldn't be anymore proud of him. 😊😊

1- 700 babies are born with a cleft', when we first found out we felt so clueless and alone but with the help and support we received from Clapa we quickly learned this wasn't the case.

I will be walking up mount Snowden with my work colleagues and I would like to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity that has helped my little family and all the other little families out there.
