Story
I am challenging myself this year by taking part in one of my toughest sporting challenges by racing three triathlons.
A very good friend of mine- Michael, sadly lost his Dad, David, who was suffering with Parkinson's, in October last year.
He was a great man, who always knew how to put others first, how to solve any problem and had a wise word to offer, no matter the topic. Truly a tragic loss
To really challenge myself, and pit myself against one of the toughest sporting challenges, I am racing three triathlons in 2023.
- Staffordshire Ironman 70.3 Triathlon - 11 June 2023
- L'Alpe d'Huez Triathlon 2023 - 27 July 2023
- Ironman Wales 140.6 Triathlon - 3 September 2023.
- I am starting the trio with the Staffordshire Ironman 70.3 Triathlon on 11 June 2023. Starting in Chasewater Reservoir, with a 1.9km swim, then a 56 mile bike ride around the beautiful Staffordshire Countryside, with a scenic run around Stafford town, with a gruelling climb up to Stafford Castle- twice!
- My next challenge is the notoriously tough Alpe d’Huez Triathlon on 27 July 2023. This begins with a swim in a glacially fed reservoir, a 118km cycle up the 21 switchback hairpins of Alpe d'Huez itself, finishing with a 20km run.
- The final challenge is Ironman Wales 2023 commencing in Tenby, Pembrokeshire. This will entail a 2.4 mile ocean swim, a 112 mile bike ride and finally a 26.2 mile run (a full marathon)
I really hope you are able to donate what you can to support this tremendous challenge. Together we can work to help those with the condition by progressing treatments and working ultimately towards an effective cure for Parkinson's.
Thank you :)
