Abstruct Consulting are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge, on 28th June 2019. 

We will be setting off on Friday 28th June, flying first to Glasgow and then driving to our first peak, Ben Nevis at 16:00. After Ben Nevis we will drive to Scafell Pike before tackling the final peak, Snowdon which we aim to finish by 16:00 on Saturday 29th June.

We are a self guided group under the direction of one of our civil engineers, Martin Howell, who as a scout leader has previously completed all three peaks. Martin will be guiding our group of 6 climbers up the peaks. Two more of the Abstruct team will take on the role as driver, ferrying the climbers between the peaks. 

3 Peaks Challenge consists of climbing the country's three highest mountains: Mount Snowdon (Wales, 1085m), Scafell Pike (England, 978m) and Ben Nevis (Scotland, 1345m). With the aim of covering the 26 miles of walking distance, 462 mile drive and 3064 metre ascent in just 24 hours.

We have set ourselves this challenge to raise money for The Lexi Mace Brighter Future Fund in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital. Sophie Mace left Abstruct in December 2017 to go on maternity leave. Sophie had worked at Abstruct as our admin assistant for over three years. Sophie and her husband Andrew welcomed a happy and healthy Lexi to the world on 15th December 2017. Devastatingly though at just a day old Lexi became seriously unwell and was rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The hospital tried all they could to save Lexi but despite the best efforts of some of the greatest doctors in the world, Lexi died of sepsis on Sunday 17th December. As well as Sophie being one of our old colleagues, Lexi is also Adrian's niece and so this charity holds a special place in Abstruct's hearts. 

Following Lexi's death Sophie and her family alongside GOSH setup a Brighter Future Fund in Lexi's memory. The fund is currently raising money for the Alligator ward. The Alligator ward is one of GOSH's Cardiac Intensive Care and High Dependency Units, that helps to treat the sickest of babies, children and young people. Since the fund being setup in May 2018 they have so far raised over £19,000.
