Absoc Goes Green: National Fund-raising Competition · 1 March 2021

Friends of the Earth is raising £5,000 to continue fighting for our planet during and after coronavirus.

Story

Salamu Alaykum,

As part of UCL ABSoc's Sustainability week starting 1 March, we are proud to announce our national fundraising competition.

Aims of the campaign

  • Increase awareness that climate change is a root of many issues in our world.
  • Highlight the importance of sustainability in our communities.
  • Raise money to do our part in combatting climate change.
  • Offset the carbon footprint of ABSocs and their members around the UK.

Friends of the Earth International is a UN environmental program accredited charity. Their aim is to secure a safer climate, flourishing nature and healthy air, water and food for the next generation. Over the last couple of decades, the UK section of the charity, “Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland” has been responsible for a number of accomplishments including lobbying the government to start placing the recycling bins in front of our houses since 2010. Our donations can help them with their plans to push for a green and fair recovery, both locally and across the globe, as we come out of the Covid-19 pandemic.
