Story
January is a bleak month at the best of times and with the addition of the new lock-down, life may seem more claustrophobic than usual. This combination puts added strain on all of our mental health so we have decided to set our team of 9 a challenge to walk 2 million steps in 30 days.
The purpose of this challenge is not only to encourage everyone to take a daily walk but also to raise money for The Care Workers’ Charity. The Care workers Charity was founded in 2009 with the objective of supporting current and former care workers who are facing financial hardship. There are 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of the largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society. They spend their careers assisting others, but when circumstances change, sometimes it is the care workers who need help.
The charity helps carers by providing a hardship grant to help cover financial loss caused by sudden illness or injury, a death in the family, a relationship breakdown or the need to self-isolate.
