Story
My Great Granddad was my best friend, I was his girl and I would visit everyday for a cup of tea and to share a packet of Rolo’s. He passed away on December 16th 2014 st his home, surrounded by those who loved him. He was witty, charming and truly one of a kind. The stories he told me forever made me laugh, even if it was the third story repeat of the day, the fact he wanted to share those stories with me always meant to much.
During December, I wanted to volunteer with Age UK and befriend an elder, as nobody deserves to feel lonely, especially during their later life. Our elders have so many amazing memories and their stories deserved to be heard and they deserve to live their final years with a companion that will listen to them and make them feel loved. Sadly, Age UK did not cover my area, therefore I want to run 5k in honour of Age UK to fundraise for their charity work and to ensure that everybody has a friend, no matter how old they are or what their age difference may be.
