Story
Hello kind friends, acquaintances and (fingers crossed) rich distant relatives!
As you may, or may not know I am honoured to work at Tŷ Hafan Children's hospice based in Sully, South Wales. Tŷ Hafan provides support to children and young people with life limiting conditions as well as their families. We are there to help in whatever ways we can from diagnosis, to end of life and beyond.
At this strange (but slightly more hopeful time) many charities are feeling the pinch as cancelled events, altered working practices and unforeseen costs over the last year really start to take their toll on the purse strings.
To provide the care that Tŷ Hafan offer to families across Wales costs £12,554 per day with an annual total of £4.6 million. Currently, the two Welsh children's hospices jointly receive less than 10% of their funding from the Welsh Government.
This is where you come in! If you are able to make even a small donation, please know that every penny helps with roughly 80p from each pound of income contributing to these care costs. To incentivise you I will be taking on the Marathon in May challenge so you can do a good deed in return for me questioning my own life choices.
Spoiler alert - I will NOT be running - but do hope to raise the stakes by attempting to complete the marathon distance in one go (date to be announced but I'll let you know so you can think of me sweating on the coast path whilst you enjoy a cool glass of water - famously my tipple of choice). I have set the goal at £10 per marathon mile - annoyingly that pesky .2 means someone is going to have to plump up an extra £2 but you can find that down the back of your sofa - and would love it if you could help me get there.
Thank you - it really does make a difference x
