Story
Abi and the LDY-ers are heading to Hong Kong to serve the work of missionary Jackie Pullinger in the St Stephen's society.
Jackie began to transform the Kowloon Walled City (City of Darkness in Cantonese, more in this video) which was an unplanned slum where police and health inspectors feared to tread. Since the city was demolished, Jackie has begun to rehome former drug addicts, prostitutes, gang-members and their families and journey with them in community to a new life of wholeness and freedom, as well as offering them employment opportunities in the centres. The centre is centred on the gospel message that it is for freedom that Christ set us free (Galatians 5:1). You can see more of what they do here.
To fund our trip the team and I have been undergoing multiple challenges: painting homes, running quiz nights and gigs, shaving our heads (some of us!) while I am running a sustainable fashion show with lots of incredible ethical labels who aim to change the fast fashion industry by thinking more about the people who make our clothes and the processes that affect our environment.
I'm reaching out as I would appreciate it from the bottom of my heart if you could support me in this. With love, Abi
