Story
I can't quite believe I'm saying this BUT... I'm running the London Marathon 2022 for Stroke Association this October. 26.2 whole miles - AHHH!
For those who don't know our story, just a few weeks into the first national lockdown my Dad had a life-changing stroke. He was very lucky to pull through, after some touch-and-go days. But the struggle didn't just stop there. Strokes are truly devastating. My once super active Dad is now largely confined to a wheelchair and his ongoing recovery is mentally and physically tough - for both him and my mum, who now cares for him around the clock. Life as we knew it has completely changed.
I found not being able to see or be with my family during those early locked-down days extremely difficult and I turned to running as a way of coping with my grief. That's why taking on a marathon for this charity seems like the perfect challenge.
Feeling a little overwhelmed by my fundraising target (and the amount of training I have ahead of me), and I would be so, so grateful for anything you can spare.
Thank you for reading and being part of this mad journey with me.
Let's GOOOOOOOOOO.
The Stroke Association are the UK's leading stroke charity, delivering amazing, life-changing support to over 70,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. Without people raising funds for the Stroke Association, they could not provide the support and research that they do.
