As many know we lost our hero last September. My granddad Rog was diagnosed with cancer on July 8th 2021. It’s a day I will never forget, coming home from school and seeing mum and Grandy crying. They sat me and Ems down and told us Grandy had cancer and they couldn’t make him better.
I was so shocked and angry because they hadn’t even tried to make him better. I knew granddad was going to the hospital with mum to get his scan results but he said he was fine and had just a bit of irritable bowel and he was making jokes about what they would need to do to relieve his constipation!! (Don’t ask!)
Grandy was told he had terminal cancer so advanced he had only 4-6 weeks left to live. Granddad lived with us and took us to school. He was always home when we got home from school. He was the strong one, chopping logs, fixing his bike -it was hard to understand he could be so poorly. Mum and dad kept us involved with everything that was happening. I learnt about palliative care, granddad started taking all sorts of different tablets and they did help him because he even started eating again for a little while. Lots of different nurses came to our house, mum said they were from Severn hospice and that they are amazing people. I know they really helped mum to look after granddad because they supported her as well as looking after granddad.
My granddad was the bravest and strongest man in the world, so I’m going to be brave and have my (mum says beautiful) long hair chopped off to my chin on the 22 feb 22.. (Sorry Grandy, I’m not brave enough to shave it all off) It’s taken me years to grow but it will also help other children going through cancer as I’m also donating my hair to the little princess trust.
I hope to raise £100 to send to Severn hospice in honour of my granddad Rog and support all the amazing people at Severn hospice.
Even £1 will really help but if you can’t donate don’t worry but please share my page 💙
Thank you

Severn Hospice is with families from the moment they're referred to its care for as long as they need it, and it does this every day, all day for anyone in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who needs that help.It does this for them for free, but it is not without cost and it can't happen without you.For every £1 you donate, they will spend 83p directly on care - and use the remaining 17p to make another £1.Last year, all those individual donations helped provide more than £9m of caring services.Thank you - you're amazing!
