Story
The Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) team and patients are raising money for the Acquired Brain Injury unit at Poole Hospital. We are completing a virtual challenge of running, cycling, walking, swimming, and MotoMeding the Length of the UK - 1,084 miles (1,743 km) over 3 months. We are aiming to raise a pound for every kilometre that we cover of the length of the UK. Every time a patient walks or cycles on the MotoMed in a therapy session this will be included in the total distance we cover. The patients have created posters to advertise this fundraiser and these can be found around Poole Hospital.
This fundraiser is starting in March as this is Brain Injury Awareness Month.
The ABI unit in Poole Hospital provides specialist rehabilitation for ABI patients from across the region. We rely on donations to enhance each patient's stay on the ward through trips out, music therapy, supplies for Activity Group - such as craft supplies and ingredients for cooking. These extra activities enhance their experience, quality of life and family's experience, furthering their rehabilitation alongside therapy sessions.
Any donation will make a huge difference to the patients who are receiving rehabilitation on the ABI unit for months following their brain injury.
