Story
I’ve decided it’s time for my next challenge to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE: I have managed to get into some longer runs now, doing my first 10 mile run, ouch! I also took part in the Worcester 10K on Sunday 15th Sept which was a great atmosphere and prepared me a little more for the big race day!
In 2016 I took part in a charity skydive, conquering my fear of heights and flying, in order to raise money for the fantastic Alzheimer’s Society. I wanted to do this again however that would be too easy so I’ve set myself a more physical challenge..
In October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon - those of you that know me will know that this will be a huge challenge (I usually only run to the bar to get another prosecco before last orders), but I want to really push myself to do something I never expected myself to do, and I hope you will support me by donating as much as you can to help me fundraise!
This is also a very personal challenge for me since my lovely Nan was diagnosed with Dementia last year and it has taken so much away from her - so I am doing this to hopefully get one step closer to finding a cure so in the future other families won't have to go through the same.
The training process is going to be long, but very much enjoying my Saturday mornings at Fulham Palace Parkrun!
Here's how my fundraising can help:
£50 - could let someone be there for five people, for five hours of in depth support from a Helpline team at a time of crisis.
£150 - could pay for two people with dementia to attend Singing for the Brain® sessions for one year, where they and their carers can come together for an hour each week to sing and dance with music.
£610 - would pay for a Doctoral Training Centre to run for one day, helping up to eight PhD researchers to carry out ground breaking study in dementia research.
