Story

Hey guys, thanks a lot for taking the time to check out my page, means a lot!!!  - Want to check my website as well?

Have a look at - www.abeardabikeandabucketlist.com

So what exactly am I doing here?

Well, like a mad man, I am intending on cycling around the world, solo, self-assisted and 100% SELF FUNDED!

The intention behind this crazy challenge is to try and raise £150,000, initially, so that I can help to set up a much needed sporting charity in rural Cambodia - "A Sporting Chance For All!" - The aim of which, is to give the children and therefore the country of Cambodia "A Sporting Chance" of a better future, through the safe teaching of sports and English, as well sexual-health and general well-being.

In addition, I've also set up a not-for-profit clothing company ¿Por Qué No? - from which ALL PROCEEDS shall be going directly to setting up and then in the future sustaining the charity, hopefully, long after the ride has been completed.

Want to support the cause but want some top quality clobber more, check out - www.porqueno.org

You may well ask why I am doing all this?  You'd probably be right to, the answer? - why not? or ¿Por Qué No?

Cambodia and its people stole my heart when I was fortunate enough to Live and work there for 3 months in 2012.

Despite improvements, there are still huge problems within the country namely, child labour, high, school drop out figures, prostitution and sexual exploitation as well as a lack in sports coaching and facilities.

Cambodia will be a rough mid point of my journey and I intend on conducting a number of research projects whilst I am there.  Speaking to local communities within rural area's, but most importantly the children who will be directly impacted by the charity, to find out exactly what it is these children would like from the charity?  How it can be best suited to their needs and desires?  Whilst also finding out, what needs to be done in order that the children continually attend the charity?

Following this the charity will develop, and then introduce a pilot project within the area.

Going forward the charity will aim to provide both a safe and secure location from which the children can be taught English, sexual health and general well being, whilst also enjoying sports coaching and a healthy meal.  The charity will aim to work alongside the school half day, which is currently available for children in Cambodia.

During set-up the project will always consider a self-sustaining model; qualifying the children and young people of Cambodia as sports coaches to take on educational and management duties within the centre.  This will create opportunities for travel and knowledge exchange for the children in the future.

If you could donate anything at all and share this page, it really would be hugely, hugely appreci
