Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Every year we are told that '1 in 2 people will get cancer' that's 50% of the population - but you never think it is going to be you.

There is never a good time to be told you have cancer, however,  being diagnosed at the time of a global pandemic has got to be one of the worst.  Going through cancer without being able to see my friends and family was very hard so, I told a handful of people...everyone had enough to worry about.

Having said this, I cannot believe how supremely luck I have been to have been treated during the Covid lockdown, when operating theatres were closing up and down the country.

A pulmonary embolism, two cancers and 3 surgeries later, I would like to bring about something positive from my experience. In light of this, I am fundraising to raise money to enable the Liverpool Women Hospital to purchase a Mona Lisa Touch laser which will be life changing for a lot of women suffering from the urogenital side effects of surgical menopause (forced menopause a result of surgery for hormonal cancers e.g. breast, ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancers).

I used to think that surviving cancer surgery was biggest hurdle, however, just imagine surviving a life threatening illness to find your life is not worth living. There are many women out there who suffer the above side-effects and in the case of cancer patients - they cannot even turn to HRT.

Although, I am campaigning from a cancer perspective (as this is my story), this treatment will be beneficial for all women suffering from the euro-genital side effects of both natural  surgical menopause.

We need to raise £50K. The hospital have been quoted of £50K for a refurbished laser and I have been tasked with helping to raise these funds  (as it was my idea!). This treatment is currently only available privately and costs a small fortune and I cannot stress enough how life changing it can be for women who have gone through hormone related cancers.

The treatment is very quick (about 5 minutes), highly effective, the results are instant and there is no down time.

I cannot believe that in this day and age of medical advances there is no treatment available on the NHS for a condition which affects thousands of women today and will continue to impact many more in the future.

Please support me in helping women to conquering cancer and in thanking the NHS for the excellent care that I received (and continue to receive) and also help make history.

The sooner we can purchase the laser, the sooner the clinical trials can start and once approval has been provided for the Liverpool Women's Hospital to provide this treatment - there is no doubt the rest of the country will follow also!

This campaign has been a difficult one to raise funds for as it will not save the planet or even lives...a Cinderella cause... however, it will 'change' the lives of hundreds and thousands of women dramatically.

No matter how hard it is to raise money for this cause -fundraising is still an easy way to change someone's life so...LET'S DO THIS!
