Story
As part of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh I am fundraising for the RSPB. I am going to take part in the 2.6 challenge and I am either going to Run 2.6 miles or complete a 26 minute workout for 26 days. I normally would fundraise with the RSPB through selling pin badges at local cafes and shops, however as Covid 19 has temporarily closed many stores doors i can no longer fundraise normally but this does not mean charity's should be forgotten about. I have chosen the RSPB because I feel it is a very important charity in this current climate crisis as they do vital work in conservation protecting the species most affected by climate change.
Save the UK's Charities General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
