So excited for the half marathon today!!! Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated to this amazing cause, with my paper form I've raised nearly £300. If anyone else would like to sponsor me it would be so appreciated :)
As many of you know i'm not a natural athlete, in fact my parents remind me time and time again that I lost my first ever sports day running race because I was more concerned about picking up my sunhat than running!
Despite my lack of natural ability, dislike for PE at school and nickname of Abbysnail as a child due to my lack of speed, I actually like running and love the sense of achievement it gives me when I realise you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
I first started running in 2004 when I completed the race for life and then entered the London Marathon 2005. Myself and my crazy friend spent 4 months getting up at 5:30am training in ernest only to get the letter saying we had been unsuccessful in securing a place for the race :-(
That was the last time I ran...until September this year when that same crazy friend took me on a run in my lunch break, I thought I could only go 2 minutes but she wouldn't let me stop and 3 miles later I realised it was simply mind over matter and therefore with a bit of effort I was desperate to start training and actually complete a race.
So that takes me to here, on Sunday 27th November I will be donning my lycra and giving the Norwich half marathon my best shot. The training's going well and despite a bit of knee pain I think i'll make it!
Please please support this worthwhile cause, every penny will help me reach my target and in turn help people suffering from cancer.
1 in 3 of us will get cancer and Macmillan provide practical, medical and financial support AND push for better cancer care. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
