Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Please take the time to carefully read and consider a donation towards Jasmine.
My sister Fran and I will be participating in the New Forest Half Marathon in September 2019, and we have decided to raise money for the charity 'Solving Kids with Cancer'. We have chosen this chairty as earlier this year Jasmine, who is only 4 years old, was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, an extremely aggressive childhood cancer that affects around 100 children in the UK each year.
Since young Jasmine was diagnosed in January 2018, she has undertaken extensive chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, major surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. Over the last year, she has spent more than six months in the hospital, often not allowed to leave her room or even see her older brother, who is a very dear friend of our younger brother, James. Jasmine has developed several life-threatening side-effects including internal bleeding, Venous Occlusive Disease (VOD) and severe neurological reactions.
Due to these severe neurological reactions, Jasmine will not be able to complete the immunotherapy part of her treatment. Jasmine’s family are desperate to do all they can to give her the best chance of beating this horrible disease. Together, with doctors, they have identified the Bivalent Vaccine in New York, which has shown promising early results in reducing the likelihood of relapse in children who are at a very high risk of relapsing again.
Thus, Fran and I have decided that we are going to aim fundraise £1,000 to her give Jasmine the chance to undertake this treatment in April 2019. Any donations would be highly greatful.
