Story
I am taking part in 2,800 Squats in February for Teenage Cancer Trust. That's on average 100 squats a day!
In 2023, at the age of 22 I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. I will never forget that night. The word ‘sinister’ was used to describe what was found on my scans and that word will be engraved in my mind forever.
No one ever thinks they will get diagnosed with cancer and at such a young age with my whole life ahead of me, I just was not ready to die.
I am 20 months in to my 30 month chemotherapy treatment plan and these past 20 months have been the most challenging, worrying, and difficult months of my life but I have tried to take everything in my stride and take everything head on with an incredible support network around me. I have learnt so much about myself and I now feel optimistic for a cancer free future 🤞
I had complications during treatment which meant I have now had to learn how to walk again and now I am mobile enough, I would like to do this challenge to give back. The teenage cancer trust have been a massive support for me and my family during this unbearable journey and there is no way we could’ve got through this without the support of all the nurses and the charity financial help. I have recently joined the youth advisory group within the teenage cancer trust and I’m hoping I can use my role to help the charity understand more from a patients perspective.
I would love to raise as much money as I can to help give back to this incredible charity that has helped us in ways words cannot describe.
Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words you have cancer. They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. Teenage Cancer Trust are the only charity in the UK charity dedicated to meeting this vital need so no young person faces cancer alone.
Every £25 donation provides an hour to talk. A Youth Support Coordinator provides the extra help young people need with things like studies, relationships and mental wellbeing throughout cancer treatment. £25 could pay for an hour of their time, helping them be there when they're needed most.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you will share this fundraiser on to others and donate what you can to this incredible charity ❤️
