We are a team of sixteen friends and family, who will be running the Cardiff Half-Marathon in March 2022 in honour of Magnus Hooper-West. On the 21 September 2021, Magnus was born sleeping at 38 weeks and his expectant mums, Chey and Abbie were faced with the unimaginable. Since then, SANDS – the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity – has been an invaluable support to these two extraordinary women who wanted and deserved more than anything to be able to take Magnus home. SANDS does not only focus on supporting bereaved parents; much of its work is in research into the causes of stillbirth and neonatal death. Their research is already bearing fruit as the number of stillbirths and neonatal deaths in the UK has come down this year from 15 to 13 per day. But there is still so much more to be done. And so we ask you to support our team of sixteen runners, joggers, shufflers and hobblers as we make our way through the streets of Cardiff for Magnus, for Chey and Abbie and for SANDS!
