Story
I have worked with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for over a decade, ever since they supported me as a cardiology research fellow in London. I've screened many thousands of young people with CRY, looking for potentially lethal cardiac conditions in athletes and non-athletes alike. I've met so many amazing people, travelled far and wide for screenings, and gained unique knowledge and skills in sports cardiology and inherited cardiac conditions which I use on a daily basis. I continue to support CRY's work in my current role as a Consultant Cardiologist in Cardiff, including receiving screening referrals from all over South East Wales. Now I want to say a huge thank you to CRY by running the 2023 London Marathon to raise funds for them!
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions. See how your support can help by visiting www.c-r-y.org.uk.
