Story

The Aplastic Anaemia Trust (AAT), a charity based out of St George's Hospital Medical School in London. - see www.theaat.org.uk

We're taking part in the charity's principle fund raising event, the annual London Paris Triathlon. This challenging event comprises of 1km swim in the Serpentine, a 10km run around the Serpentine and an 80km cycle ride in France.

The charity funds research into the cause and treatment of Aplastic Anaemia (bone marrow failure), which is a serious rare disease that develops when the bone marrow fails to produce blood cells.

The only real "cure" for aplastic anaemia is a bone marrow transplant. For patients where a transplant is not an option, immunosuppressive therapy called antilymphocyte globulin (ALG) is used. This treatment suppresses or "damps down" the immune system allowing the bone marrow to recover.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is a very efficient way to sponsor us: The AAT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. - So please sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support.
