Story

22 May 2017, 22:31 ....a time that will never be forgotten.

The Manchester arena attack saw the loss of 22 lives.  It also caused physical injuries to 800 people – and prompted over 3,000 to seek various forms of help and support. It also sent ripples of shock across the world.

I was working as a police officer on the night of the attack, and as a result worked on the frontline with my colleagues to help those immediately affected by the incident.   For the next few weeks, we ended up spending time with the victims and their friends and families, offering our help and support as they tried to come to terms with their lives being turned upside down.

Through our love and support for those families unbreakable bonds and friendships have been formed which I value greatly.

Although I am now firefighter, I am still on a mission to ensure the memory of those 22 angels and all the victims of that night are remembered forever.  And have set myself a challenge to run 22 10km races – one race for each victim whose life was lost on that dreadful night.

At the end of each race, I will collect the finishers medal, and have it engraved with the name of the specific person I dedicated the race to. I
will then give the engraved medal to the victim’s family as a keepsake.

My goal is to raise £10,000. This will be split between two funds , the Manchester emergency fund and the Manchester memorial fund.

£6000.37 of this total has gone  to the We Love Manchester Emergency fund – which has now closed. The remaining money raised will go towards the cost of the Memorial that will be built in Manchester to honour the 22.

Please give anything you can I really appreciate your generosity.
