Brighton Half Marathon 2019 · 24 February 2019 ·

Taking place along Brightons beautiful seafront, this scenic half marathon has become one of the most popular races in the UKs running calendar.

Story

I've completed the London marathon before for charity to support someone else's cause, however, this time around I'm running for Alzheimer's as it's a personal cause for me, therefore, I want to do it properly and work my hardest to make people proud whilst supporting a cause fighting to support someone close to me.

My grandad Alan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a number of years ago. Over the years he's lost both himself and his memories, as well as the loss of family members resulting in him living independently in his own house with little challenging his mind. He regrettably around six months ago was deemed unable to care for himself and a move to care was required.

With this move, it, in turn, means as well as losing memories, getting extremely confused and frustrated at times, he also has to lose all he has worked his life to achieve, his savings, his house, and independence.

I personally find it frightening that something out of your control can make you effectively lose everything. I'm hoping that until a cure can be found the quality and respect for people with Alzheimer's along with the support for families, friends and carers can improve.

Please support me in my goal!
