Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know, my wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis late last year.
It was very unexpected, she woke up one morning with a numb foot and within a week she had lost the feeling in her legs. An MRI scan confirmed she had lesions in her brain and spinal cord, and our lives were turned upside down.
MS is an autoimmune disease where the body mistakes your central nervous system for being an intruder, and tries destroying it. There is no cure.
Soph learned to walk again with the help of a neurophysiotherapist but unfortunately relapsed again in February this year. Another scan confirmed the disease is still progressing and she has several new brain lesions despite being on a clinical trial to seriously compromise her immune system.
I can't put into words what it's like to see your other half be taken over by this disease. I know she wanted to run the 10k this year, but as she's now in and out of a wheelchair, I'm doing it for her.
This is hopefully the first step towards running a marathon, all in aid of the MS Society.
I'd be so grateful for any donation you could make, large or small, every penny counts towards hopefully one day finding a cure for this awful disease.
Thank you x
