Story
My son Mathew, has been left T4 Paraplegic after a serious accident when he was hit by a 4x4 whilst walking along a country road in North Wales. Mathew spent 4 months on the Spinal Unit at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital , Gobowen - he will be using this hospital and the services they offer for the rest of his life. At the end of 2014 whilst lying flat on his back unable to move, we talked a lot and one of the things that was discussed was how Mathew wanted to give something back to the unit he lived and rehabilitated on.
The Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI),
at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of 11 in the UK designated to receive and treat spinal cord injured patients. The centre of excellence, near Oswestry, serves a catchment of 10 million people, providing a lifelong service to a current population of 3,500 patients and admitting, on average, 380 patients per year, around 100 of whom are in the acute phase of injury. Assessment, treatment and education are provided to patients
with a spinal cord injury, with support also provided to partners and family members.
After our initial fundraising in 2015, we hope to continue to raise funds, initially with Aardvarker's Moulin Rouge Ball in Chester, September 2016. Any contribution to our fundraising efforts for this wonderful cause are very very much appreciated.
Thank you all so much . This will be assisting Mathew and all those who utilise the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries RAJH Orthopaedic Hospital , Gobowen. THANK YOU.
