Story
Syrian Crisis
There's no denying, the Syrian refugee crisis has been the largest refugee crisis of its kind the world has seen in recent times. As of mid-2020, the number of displaced Syrians internally reached around 6 million, of which 3 million are still in besieged places, brought on by an ongoing 10-year war. Of those resettled they're often living in temporary over-crowded make-shift tents, providing little to no privacy, very poor insulation and insufficient space.
The Tent 2 Home Project
To bring hope and improve the lives of the Syrian refugees, Abdullah Aid are building villages of 50 homes each, providing displaced Syrians with a home that includes a water tank, wash room, kitchen and electricity.
Each home will cost £1500 and each village will have 50 homes.
One such project Abdullah Aid are working on is called 'Rukn-ul-Amal' meaning 'Village of Hope', which is under construction now - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eta4jU6YXw4. Please note: This is not the village you are contributing towards - but of one like this. Full updates will be provided to all donors, if you choose to receive updates.
The Icebreaker Challenge
From Saturday 27th February to Sunday 28th March 2021, I will be participating in the 'AMAP 4 GOOD' Icebreaker challenge where I will be aiming to run, row and cycle a total of 262 miles in order to raise as much money as possible for Abdullah Aid's 'Tent 2 Home' project. As part of this total, I will be completing a marathon row, a total of 42,195m (26 miles) in one effort, Insha'Allah!
Please support this exceptionally worthy cause wholeheartedly. It will go a long long way in helping the Syrian men, women and children Insha'Allah! Zakaat donations are also accepted and welcomed!
You can stay up to date on my progress on this page.
JazakAllah Khair / Thank you.
