Story
Most fortuitously, two organisations with which I am closely involved have aligned to raise money for homeless young people. They are asking business leaders to sleep outside overnight in the courtyard of the Royal Academy (RA) in London on Tuesday 6 November.
The RA has agreed to support the Cardinal Hume Centre (CHC) https://www.cardinalhumecentre.org.uk/ by providing outside space for the sleepout.
London attracts many homeless young people from all over the UK and, indeed, many from the rest of the world. We need to raise vital funds for the CHC in central London.
Basil Hume was my teacher and mentor at school in Yorkshire, England in the 1970s. He later became Archbishop of Westminster, and then Cardinal. When he first moved to London, he found many homeless children and young people living rough outside his own church - to address this problem he established the CHC.
I’m sure you will agree with me that homelessness among the young should not exist in developed economies like ours. Although sleeping out for one night does not compare to what these young people have to face every day, we hope this act of solidarity will highlight the issue of homelessness amongst the young, while raising funds for CHC.
If you would like to support me, you can sponsor me via this page, or alternatively, send a cheque, payable to the CHC, c/o Catrin Rowlands to the address below.
Please give very generously. Thank you for your support.
Best wishes
