Great Wall Trek for Hope · 17 October 2015 to 25 October 2015 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page

I am trekking the Great Wall of China in October for my Dad who died of pancreatic cancer aged only fifty four, to raise money for the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK.

The photo is my Dad and I on his last Christmas. Despite painful illness and treatment, then a terminal prognosis he continued telling jokes, shared his music collection with the other patients and was wonderful, kind and humorous.  My goal is to train hard, and trek 4-6 hours a day to reach the 'heavenly stairway' section of the wall on 25th October, which would have been his 84th birthday.

Pancreatic cancer has a survival rate of only 4%. Donations will help research with the aim of giving hope of survival to those diagnosed, and the people who love them.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
