Story
Every day, men and women have to leave their career in the Armed Forces as a result of physical or psychological wounds. Your contibutions will help them recover and get on with their lives. So far Help for Heroes has supported more than 25,000 people and won’t stop until every veteran gets the support they deserve.
I met a number of those veterans last year when I completed BBBR2022. The challenges they had to overcome once they left the forces were diverse, including physical and emotional challenges, but the common theme was that the support they received had a life changing impact. It was one of the most profound moments for me on the ride listening to a former marine explain how his mental health suddenly declined whilst serving after years of witnessing the most unimaginable events in many recent war areas that you've heard about on the news.
It takes a different kind of strength to adapt to life after military service - it could be the strength to learn to walk again or to ask for mental health support after battling on for years alone.
I know not everyone can give a big donation in these very difficult economic times - rest assured whatever you can give will have the potential to make a disproportionate difference.... & even more be rest assured, I shall not be doing it again in 2024!!
