Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The hedgehog population of the UK has declined by 25% in the last 10 years, to around 1 million.  At this rate there may be no hedgehogs left in 15 years.

Hedgehogs are good for your garden, because they eat the pests that damage your plants and they are also an indicator of a healthy garden.

Hart Wildlife Rescue take in hedgehogs (& other animals, including foxes, deer and all sorts of bird life) which are injured or too weak to survive on their own.

Last winter I fostered 3 cute little hedgehogs. Podge (who turned out to be Podgetta), Hodge and Snuffles through Hart.  They hadn't gained enough weight to survive on their own and spent the winter living in an empty rabbit hutch in our garage.  In Spring we released them in our garden & they now frequently visit.  Without Hart's work our hedgehogs would have not survived the winter.

I am running the Basingstoke 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) on October the 2nd in order to raise money for Hart so that they can continue their good work and ensure the survival of many more of England's indigenous species

Thank you for taking the time to read this and your generous sponsorship
