Story
Hey lovely people
Welcome to my Just giving fundraising page.
Here you will find all the info about what I will be doing, where I will be going and what the whole fundraising is for.
Any questions? I’m only a few tap’s of the keyboard away, email me your questions. (zoedean01@gmail.com)
So what’s all this about?
Good question. I have been very fortunate to be accepted onto a government run program called ICS (International Citizens Service) where I will be sent abroad for 3 months to Manila in the Philippines. The program aims to release 7,000 energetic young people from the UK into volunteering positions in key projects abroad that fight all aspects of poverty. Its about releasing people to positively affect and build links between global communities.
To find out more about VSO ICS visit www.vso.org.uk/volunteer/opportunities/vso-ics-for-18-25-year-olds.
The Philippines and What I'll be doing?
The project will take place in Metro Manila and the theme will be around Disaster Prevention and Preparedness.
The Philippines is a country prone to natural disasters, this is largely due to its location along the ring of fire. This means tropical storms, earthquakes and flash floods annually. The Philippines is in fact the country most exposed to tropical storms in the world!
This problem is compounded by poverty (more than a quarter of Filipino's live below the poverty line!). Poor infrastructure, policies and a struggling economy means that lives are often lost en masse during natural disasters where it could be easily prevented.
Where will your money go.
ICS have funded all the normal expenses. Your money will not go to my flights, visas, vaccination’s, not even food, not even any souvenirs. All funds raised will only go to helping ICS get other young people volunteering abroad on projects that fight poverty.
Fun Fundraising Events.
Over the next 2 months there will be some fun fundraising events to support. They'll be fun and a great way to find out more about what VSO ICS is doing and what i'll be up to.
