Story
Thank you for taking time to visit my Just Giving Page.
Over the past century we’ve made huge advances in medical discoveries, the health service and ‘safety net’ provision for those impoverished. In general life expectancy has gone up and Infant mortality greatly reduced. However, Sudden Infant Death, when a baby or toddler dies from unexplained causes, still occurs approximately every 9 days in Scotland. The mystery continues in spite of many of us having worked for years to try and disentangle the cluster of pre-existing variables that seem to make Cot death more likely.
I’ve been involved with The Scottish Cot Death Trust for over 20 years, which is a small charity based at Yorkhill hospital in Glasgow. The Scottish Cot Death Trust works to support families in many ways; aiming to educate, research and support those involved with cot death parents, knowing that the pain of losing a child so suddenly and unexpectedly goes on for years.
I am running the Amsterdam Marathon on October 16th this year in aid of The Scottish Cot Death Trust and to mark my 60th birthday. Can this woman who can barely walk up to Union Street without stopping off for a cappuccino complete the run?
Fortunately my very good friend Maggie is going to accompany me along the route, and hopefully be patient enough to wait for me at the finishing line!
Your support for this small but very effective not-for–profit
organisation will truly make a difference and is greatly appreciated.
Thank you - Yvonne Millman
