London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·

In 2018 close to 300 runners will take on the world famous London Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the MS Society. This is their team page.

Story

I'll be coming up to the end of my time in London and what better way to mark this milestone with the hardest physical challenge I can think of, in this city that I love, for an amazing cause close to my heart.

I've treated numerous Marathon runners whilst working here, and I've watched on the sideline as they come running down the Mall on that final stretch to the 42km mark. So this year I did everything I could to get a place at the start line.

A condition of my entry to the London Marathon with the MS Society, was a £2000 pledge to be raised, so any donation (or fundraising suggestions) are massively appreciated!

The longest I've ever run has been 10km so to say this is going to be tough, is an understatement. Please make my preparation that little bit easier!

Multiple Sclerosis is a condition that affects your nervous system. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged and this causes a range of symptoms. It can effect sufferers in many ways but it often involves problems with movement, strength, fatigue, balance and vision to name a few. It can be a progressively deteriorating disorder and there is no current cure.

The MS Society is an amazing charity that funds research, provides support and many much needed services to those suffering from the horrible condition.

Any donation, any ideas to raise funds, offerings of items to sell, useful training tips or even a training buddy to join me in the darkest and coldest days of winter would be greatly appreciated.  Feel free to contact me on facebook or via email on y.mckenny@hotmail.com
