Just when the students of Yemin Orde prepared to celebrate the 2nd day of Chanukah, the worst fire in Israel history struck and the whole village was evacuated on an emergency basis.
Yemin Orde Youth Village in the Carmel mountains was one of the disasters of the Carmel Forest fire that started last Thursday. Yemin Orde is home to more than 500 immigrant, disadvantaged and at-risk children and youth from 20 countries around the world. It provides the children with an education and a warm home - something which they did not have before.
Approximately 40 percent of the buildings in yemin orde, were damaged or destroyed and the water and energy supply completely drestroyed. No exact figure can be given to repair and rebuild both the physical and emotional damage of such a devastating event.
Together with Yemin Orde staff, the evacuated children were moved to Neveh Amiel, one of our partner villages in Israel and there they remain once again without the security of knowing where they will put their things, where they will rest their heads each evening, and when will they have a permanent home of their own. Psychologists and social workers travelled to Neveh Amiel to visit with the children and to help them work through their fear and feelings during this difficult time.
For some Children, Yemin Orde was the only place they could call home, so please if you can send this fundraising page to your friends and spread the word - these children need our help now and we need to support them, during this very difficult and heart breaking time !!
