Story
The story is simple.
We are throwing ourselves out of a plane on Friday 30th June, what would have been Jack's 29th birthday because we want his adventures to live on through us!
After complaining of lower back pain for over a year and being misdiagnosed with sciatica, in October 2018 Jack received the shattering news that he had Chondrosarcoma. Chondrosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that usually begins in the bones, but can sometimes occur in the soft tissue near bones. Chondrosarcoma happens most often in the pelvis, hip and shoulder. More rarely, it can happen in the bones of the spine.
Jack sadly passed away on the 29th of November 2018 with his family around him, 10 days after bravely deciding to undergo life-changing surgery to remove his leg, hip and pelvis.
If you do not already know Jack's story of strength and determination, then please take some time to read it on his Fund page with Bone Cancer Research Trust https://specialfunds.bcrt.org.uk/jack-sparrow-fund/.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation.
Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%! Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
We would appreciate any donations towards our jump, towards the AMAZING work that BCRT do for saving lives and towards keeping Jack's memory alive.
You'll Never Walk Alone (or in this case Fall).
We love you Jack.
