Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 12th September I'll be walking 26 miles across Salisbury Plains to raise money for sufferers of Alzheimers and other forms of dementia, and their families and carers.
Around 750,000 people in the UK suffer from this illness - 16,000 of those under the age of 65 - which means that most families are touched by it at some point.
I'll be completing this marathon in memory of my grandad, Mark "Mac" McDonald, who suffered from it in the last decade of his life, but retained his sense of humour, his love of chicken soup and his intense dislike of Bruce Forsyth to the end.
There have been some incredibly important breakthroughs recently in research on dementia, and any donation, no matter how small, will play a big part in bringing them to fruition.
Please do visit the Alzheimer's Society's website to read more about the valuable work they are doing http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/ .
