Story
As a member of the YMCA Sports and Community Centre in Redhill, I am proud to be a part of such an amazing community.
As a cat lover (& CP volunteer), Cats Protection East Surrey have come together with YMCA Redhill for a joint fundraiser to raise some much needed funds.
The YMCA are a local charity that do so much amazing work for the local community. Like a lot of charities, COVID 19 has hit them hard, but they continue to be innovative and as active as they can possibly be to continue to help and support the community.
Throughout lockdown, the online sessions have helped me maintain my physical fittness as well as my mental wellbeing. They have been a godsend to me (and many others, I'm sure) during this very lonely and isolated time.
They have brought a community together and continue to do so with their wide range of services on offer including health and wellbeing for all ages, supported housing for young homeless people, youth work, children's play schemes (including specialist schemes for children with disabilities) and mental health counselling for young people. They are renowned for their disability activities for everyone. Their Exercise Referral programme also supports and allows those those with a chronic health condition, who may be rehabilitating from a injury, illness or have a disability to engage in physical activity so that they can lead a healthier, independent and more active lifestyle. All of this is provided by trained members of staff and instructors.
As a thank you for their amazing work, we have come together (along with Wayne from the YMCA) to partake in a Dino Workout (on 20th February 2021, at midday) to help raise some funds and awareness for their cause, so please do sponsor us if you can! Let's help them, so that they can keep helping you!
