Story
On the 22nd March, we lost a beloved lady, who we have shared many treasured memories with. It has been impossible to write a tribute to Mum as she had many purple feathers to her boa.
A lady who had a kind and caring heart, who was always warm and welcoming.
A lady of great fun with a real zest for life. Mum enjoyed being with people, she was involved with the Church and The Choir, country and western dancing on the weekend. Some of you will remember Mum for the farmhouse B&B, for the plentiful evening meals she provided and the merriment and entertaining that ensued with Dad on the violin and mum on the piano.
We shared many family evenings of singing and great pleasure was taken in teasing the grandchildren and to see the cheeky mischievousness they shared was magical.
Mum had a great joy for the English language, she loved poetry and enjoyed a good quip or a double-entendre, Mum was the principal lead of most. There was many a profound debate about grammar. Mum had a love for music and was a self-taught pianist, and played by ear.
Mum’s flair for cooking continued with a stall at the Thursday Hay Market. Mum would stay up the entire Wednesday night to produce a fine array of cakes and savouries each week, which Mum continued to do well into her eighties. She was a true inspiration, made of pure grit and determination.
Mum and Dad were married for 65 years and courted for 8 years previously, after their eyes meet over the school fence, a wonderful allegiance of 73 years.
Mum was recognised for her own style and the colour purple. She liked nothing more than a charity shop rummage and her wardrobe was full of purple charity shop bargains. You name it she would have
had it in purple.
Mum you are deeply missed, but you will always be in our hearts.
It was Mums wish that any donations received were to be given to the Hereford Street Pastors. So far an amazing amount of just over £300.00 has been raised for The Hereford Street Pastors, who are continuing to do fantastic work through these tough times.
