Story
The Lotus Flower Trust (LFT) has been asked to provide a hostel for the children living around Khaltse village in Ladakh. The children we are aiming to help live in remote villages in the Himalayas. Without the provision of such a hostel, many of them would simply be unable to attend school.
Winchester College has had a successful relationship with the Lotus Flower Trust over a number of years now and this will be a fourth project, again to be completed over two years. Both for the Wykehamists involved and especially for those children we help, the impact of these projects changes lives.
Over the next two years, we must raise at least £60,000 for this project, with at least £30,000 of this total coming from this year’s fund-raising. In 2014, the team managed £40,000 in twelve months.
In August 2016, a team of 30 Wykehamists will head to India in order to start work on the construction of the new hostel. This will give them an opportunity to see where the money is being spent and allow them to meet the children they are helping.
