Story
Hi,
I am Will, I am keen but very amateur cyclist and on April 22nd 2022 I am going to ride 400km around the Ijssel lake in 60hrs.
Lake Ijssel, previously known as Zuiderzee, is a huge, shallow, fresh water lake that sources the famous canals of Amsterdam. I will be tracing the outline of this lake from Amsterdam to Amsterdam and although it is a beautiful and seemingly flat route, the well renowned hefty headwinds will make this distance a real challenge.
I am going to be doing this challenge in support of the great charity "The Bike Project" (https://thebikeproject.co.uk/), who's mission is outlined below...
"Imagine living on £37 a week. It's enough for food, perhaps, but what about travel? If you need a new pair of shoes, what sacrifices will you have to make? These hard choices are the daily reality of a refugee in London.Bikes to the Rescue! We take second-hand bikes, fix them up and donate them to refugees and asylum-seekers. Why? One of our bikes can save a refugee £21 a week in bus fares. Having fled persecution and atrocity in their homeland, a bike helps them access food banks, legal advice, healthcare, education and more."
Finally, a quick forward thanks to my brother and his trusty Campervan for the support!
I would hugely appreciate it if you can spare a small donation to this great charity!
Thanks for your support,
Will Newland
