Stroke Association Resolution Run 2016 Heaton Park

Resolution Run 5/10/15k Heaton Park · 6 March 2016 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may or may not know, just 11 weeks after completing last years Stroke Association 10k, only a couple of weeks after completing the Great Manchester 10k and only a few days after a parkrun, I collapsed at home. I'd had a Stroke, totally out of the blue. I was only 42.
152,000 people have a Stroke in the UK each year and there are currently 1.2 million survivors. It's the fourth largest cause of death in the UK and Stroke in younger people is on the increase.
I was found, diagnosed and treated very quickly. Being pretty fit at the time also helped. So, I am one of the lucky ones, superficially I look okay. But I have not escaped unscathed. I have permanent and irreversible brain tissue damage. An acquired brain injury.
So I'm trying to give a little back to the Charity that helped me and the very large number of Stroke survivors who are not as lucky as me.
