We fund two clinics in Bhopal to help the survivors of the 1984 Disaster

Story

Hi Everyone,

I've decided to run for the Bhopal Medical Appeal in the Brighton Marathon In April

25 years ago, in December 1984, India saw the beginning of the worst industrial disaster in history - a catastrophic gas leak from a Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal.

8-10,000 people died within the first 72 hours.  Since that day at least another 15,000 people have died as a result of their exposure to the toxic gas and another 120,000 have chronic medical conditions that require constant healthcare.

Today, many thousands of people are still suffering the after effects of the disaster, but their plight is often overshadowed by more recent tragedies, or those closer to home.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal funds the Sambhavna Clinic. Sambhavna is the only place that offers free treatment to anybody affected by the toxic gas or the toxic water.

Sambhavna is reliant on donations and any money we raise will be going directly to the clinic.  As a benchmark, £35 is all it needs to heal a child and change it´s life. You can find out more about the impact of your donation at www.bhopal.org

Although the minimum target is £500, I would like to raise as much as possible so please give generously

Thanks very much
