Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So, a bit of a toughie this one, in more ways than one....

Sadly my sisters husband, Neil Ross died on 3rd of January this year.

As the stories about his life unfolded at his funeral, it became more and more apparent to me that he was an extraordinary man, who had led an extraordinary life.

He had the misfortune to suffer from cancer twice. The first time in his childhood, which resulted in him losing one of his legs.

Undaunted he choose to fight and live his life to full, representing his country in amputee soccer, wheelchair basketball and fencing. He went on to coach in those sports and also coached the GB Wheelchair Rugby team in Sydney 2000.  He was therefore very active in helping organise these sports, actively serving on many committees culminating in him officiating the fencing at the London Paralympics, which was when he was diagnosed with cancer for a second time.

He was funny and charming.

But more importantly than all that, he made my sister Cath happy for 10 years, and for that I'll be forever grateful.

With this in mind and the excellent care he received from Willen Hospice,  who supported him in his final weeks, I've been inspired  to take on a ludicrous challenge and cycle 300 miles over 4 days from London to Paris in his memory.

The money raised will be split 50:50 between the Willen Hospice and a local childrens hospice - Chesnut Tree House  - who are organising this ride.

Thank you now for any support.
