Story
With unprecedented numbers of people being torn away from their homes and millions facing starvation – Who is Hussain is launching a campaign to ask the bold question, Who Cares?
According to UNHCR, there are currently 1.5 million Syrian refugees distributed throughout all Lebanese regions. UNICEF's annual study show that 70.5% of them are living below the poverty line.
Thousands of Syrian children living in refugee camps in Lebanon have no access to education and are suffering from low academic achievement. Moreover, stunted progress in reading, science and mathematics is making it extremely difficult for them to integrate into society and find employment in later years.
As part of the #WhoCares campaign Who is Hussain is working with Penny Appeal to raise £45,000 for a mobile education unit for Syrian refugee children living in destitute refugee camps in Lebanon.
Your money will pay for a portable library which will travel across Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon accompanied by trained volunteers who will aim to:
- Deliver mobile education to the children through specific tailored programmes
- Deliver language training
- Develop and enhance IT skills
- Develop literacy skills through supported reading and access to materials
- Develop skills in mathematics and science
- Support creativity amongst the children through arts and drama
- Support the children to familiarise themselves with the local community and to understand the wider world around them
- Support the enrolment of the refugee children to mainstream schools in Lebanon
- Support teachers by providing training to them
Together we can build a brighter future for the next generation- please donate and show You Care.
