Story
We never thought at the age of 36 that we would be parents to an angel baby!...
In December 2020, we suffered the horrific loss of our first child. June 2021 would have been the time when we were due to become parents...sadly, this wasn’t meant to be!
We found out at our first scan that our beautiful baby had a fatal condition, incompatible with life and that he/she would not survive to full term... Two weeks later, when I was only 14 and a half weeks, we had to say goodbye to our angel. 💔
The pain was unbearable. ARC supported us through it. They are the only national charity to provide specialist support for bereaved and expectant parents and their families. Around 800,000 women in the UK become pregnant each year. More than 40,000 will be told there is a chance that their baby has a genetic or structural condition. Sadly, some will receive the devastating news that their baby has a serious, sometimes lethal condition, or might be told that the outlook is very uncertain.
How does a charity that nobody talks about raise money? The devastation of baby loss is not spoken about, however, the stats show that this is more common than people realise. ARC are funded solely through public donations and their selfless work needs to be recognised.
