As some of you might know, I do a lot of cycling. I've also had the odd crash - nothing too serious but a couple of things that ended up with drugs, surgery, metal plates... that kind of thing.
Thankfully I've never needed an air ambulance, but I have seen them in action a couple of times. They are entirely funded by public donations and the Thames Valley one does 3-4 call outs per day, each costing around £1000. They attend road collisions, walkers, horse riders, cyclists, blackberry pickers - in fact if you ever leave your house it's possible you might need their services.
The "Wet, Windy and Wild Bike Ride" (WWAWBR) is part of a Vodafone organised event, going for 300 miles over three days, starting in Newbury and ending in Manchester. It's 16-18th of October so there is a high possibility of bad weather - hence the wet, windy and wild. It should be properly Belgian.
Please donate what you can - preferably by text message. The first £100 raised using the JustTextGiving text message code will be matched by Vodafone.
