Extreme Heat Hurts Homeless and Vulnerable Neighbors the Most
Here in Maricopa County, the summer sun can be dangerous, even deadly, for our vulnerable neighbors. That's why, when temperatures top 100 degrees, Phoenix Rescue Mission declares a Code:Red on the streets.
The numbers are staggering. Last summer, extreme heat killed 339 of our neighbors in Maricopa County - at least 130 of them homeless. The danger disproportionately targets our most vulnerable populations: seniors, those with disabilities, and homeless people.
With your help, we can provide cool, refreshing water to homeless and vulnerable neighbors all summer long.
