We work with others to overcome poverty and suffering.

Story

Our valiant and foolhardy band all work for Wessex Archaeology, and are drawn from our fieldwork, geoservices, coastal & marine and heritage teams across two of our offices in Southern England.

In a nutshell, we’re going to try to walk 100km of the South Downs Way in one continuous no-sleep push over 30 hours, setting off early on Saturday 25th July and not stopping until the afternoon of Sunday 26th. Please consider sponsoring us in this gruelling challenge!

Although we don’t expect to have time to do a lot of  sightseeing, along the trail are numerous sites of archaeological interest, including the Devils Jumps bell barrow group, Old Monkton deserted medieval village, Chanctonbury Ring hill fort, Bramber Castle, the Devils Dyke, Bignor Roman Villa and the Chicester to London Roman road of Stane Street, to name but a few.

More details of the event (and the worthy causes it supports) can be found here: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/trailwalker/the-challenge
