Fundraising for Spinal Injuries Association
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for SIA. In memory of my brother, Simon and for all those who are living and adapting to life with a permanent spinal injury
Two years ago Simon set off on a bike ride, something he loved to do.. That day, he had an accident on his bike which left him with Central Cord Syndrome, an incomplete spinal trauma. We were cautiously optimistic that he would recover well enough to get back to the activities and life that he loved.
We lost Simon to depression in July last year.
The Ride:
Last Friday, 14th April I set off on my endurance ride from Bramley in Hampshire to Whitstable in Kent, where my brother and I grew up. I cycled with an amazing team through tricky conditions on the Friday but arrived in Whitstable in glorious sunshine on the Saturday afternoon. 125 miles, 4 counties and some seriously tough hills on the North Downs. An incredible journey.
The Run:
This weekend, I will be swapping the pedals for my running shoes and taking on the London Marathon to continue my tribute to Simon and fundraising for Spinal Injuries Association. It's an iconic 26.2 miles which Simon completed once himself and I will wear my SIA vest with pride knowing that I am supporting people living with a permanent spinal injury.
Please support me if you can - I am so grateful. SIA provide essential support for individuals and families living with a life-changing spinal injury. They offer practical support and heartfelt empathy. These interventions save lives.
